Ready for His Shot at the Champion

Watching mixed martial arts fights with my friends is the best way to relax after spending all those hours in school writing custom research papers and other academic requirements to keep my grades up. While most of them favor the heavyweights because they are always hungry for the knockout, I enjoy watching the smaller guys in the lighter weight divisions because they offer non-stop action and they really throw down and scrap without giving an inch to their opponents. And an exciting match between the top contenders of the bantamweight division is set and charged to explode this Saturday in San Jose, California.

Brian Bowles lost his title to bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz back in the WEC but he has won his last two fights since the fight company folded with Zuffa and the UFC. He was scheduled for a title fight but instead, he got fellow top contender Urijah "The California Kid" Faber. While most fighters would bitterly complain and grumble because of the delay, Brian is considering this a blessing in disguise because a fight with the ever-popular Faber would give him exposure to fight fans around the world who are rooting for the California Kid.

If he beats Faber this weekend, Brian will kill two birds with one stone because he will get the attention and the exposure as well as the title shot against the champion. Although Brian is coming in as the underdog in this fight, I think that he has the chance to prove that his loss to Cruz was just a fluke. I am rooting all the way for Bowles because he is a more exciting fighter than Cruz and Faber combined.
