Dennis Witt is Team Captain for Hamburg's Gold's Gym, and a strong force within the Tour de Cure community. He got involved to make a difference:

I got involved in the Tour de Cure because my father-in-law has diabetes. Two years ago the Hamburg Gold's Gym started sponsoring a team in the Tour de Cure and I have been riding ever since. I responded to the request for the ride evaluation after my first year and became part of the planning committee. Being a part of the planning committee and a team captain gives me great satisfaction. I am able to help others who have a condition that could limit their everyday functions and quality of life.

This is what Dennis recommends: Start up a team with the people you work with, join an existing team, ride individually, or volunteer to help for the ride. The people of the American Diabetes Association will help you every step of the way.
